American Silver Eagle Coin Tubes at BGASC

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States, and the most popular silver bullion coin in the world. While individual coins will arrive in protective plastic flips, the US Mint offers investors and collectors bulk options such as tubes and Monster Boxes. Learn more about American Silver Eagle Coin Tubes right here at BGASC.

Background of the American Silver Eagle

American Silver Eagles debuted in 1986, with both proof and BU strikes being made available in a 1 oz weight. BU coins have been issued annually ever since, whereas proof strikes took a one-year break in 2009, due to economic uncertainty. Burnished coins were also made available in 2006, and have been released every year since, except for 2009 and 2010.

These coins have had the same obverse design since 1986. Originally used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, this design was used from 1916 to 1947 and was created by Adolph A. Weinman. The design is regarded as one of the most stunning to ever come from the US Mint, thus it was reintroduced with the American Silver Eagle.

From 1986 to the first half of 2021, the heraldic eagle design of John Mercanti was seen on the reverse. The eagle was seen with a shield on its chest and with 13 five-pointed stars above it. This design was replaced by Emily Damstra’s flying eagle which shows the eagle landing on a branch. 2021 coins designated as Type 1 have Mercanti’s design, while Type 2 coins have the design of Damstra.

American Silver Eagle Tubes

Proof and burnished American Silver Eagles will arrive in presentation boxes from the US Mint, along with a Certificate of Authenticity. However, BU coins are available in several options such as individual flips, tubes of 20, and Monster Boxes of 500.

Tubes are sealed and are identifiable by their green top, indicating that they’re from the US Mint. Each tube contains 20 coins, all in BU condition.

Notably, each tube contains 20 coins from the same year. Thus, a 2023 1 oz American Silver Eagle Tube, will contain 20 2023 American Silver Eagles. This means each tube contains 20 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
