Product Description
The Mexican Gold Libertad is a distinctive gold bullion coin, similar to popular coins like the American Gold Eagle and British Gold Britannia. One feature that sets the Gold Libertad apart is its low mintage numbers, which are much lower than most other major gold coins. The highest mintage year was in 1981, with recent years seeing numbers as low as 300 coins. Right now, 1/2 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coins are available from BGASC.

Obverse
The obverse of the Mexican Gold Libertad shows Mexicos national coat of arms. The iconic design depicts an eagle perched on a cactus, gripping a snake in its beak, symbolizing Mexicos strength and history.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1 oz Gold Libertad Coins, youll find the image of Winged Victory. This figure represents freedom and triumph, inspired by the Roman goddess of victory, Victoria, and became a symbol of hope during Mexicos War of Independence in the 19th century.
History
The modern Mexican Gold Libertad series offers five different coin sizes, from 1 oz down to 1/20 oz. But in 1981, when the series began, only three coins were available: the 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1 oz Gold Libertads. After the initial release in 1981, the coins werent minted again until 1991.
Among the five weights, the 1/2 oz Gold Libertad often has one of the lowest mintage numbers, making it a popular choice for collectors. In 1981, 193,000 coins were struck, the highest in the series, while 2003 and 2008 saw the lowest mintage with just 300 coins produced.
