Product Description

These circulated 90% silver Standing Liberty U.S. Quarters are sold by the $1 face value. Each $1 face value contains 4 individual quarters which total to approximately .715 ozt of pure silver, but this varies based on the amount of wear on each coin. Standing Liberty Quarters were minted from 1916 to 1930. Often referred to as “junk silver” in the silver bullion market, these coins are circulated and bought/sold primarily for their 90 percent silver content, however Standing Liberty Quarters are a popular coin for collectors as well as investors.

You may buy any quantity face value desired. Quantities of 10 ($10 face value) will be shipped in paper coin rolls. Quantities of 100 ($100 face value) will be shipped in canvas coin bags. All other increments will likely be shipped in clear ziptop bags.

For example:

  • Quantity 1 = $1 Face Value (4 quarters in ziptop bag)
  • Quantity 10 = $10 Face Value (40 quarters in paper coin roll)
  • Quantity 47 = $47 Face Value (160 quarters in 4 paper coin rolls + 7 quarters in ziptop bag)
  • Quantity 100 = $100 Face Value (400 quarters in canvas coin bag)
  • Quantity 200 = $200 Face Value (800 quarters in 2 separate canvas coin bags)

The Standing Liberty Quarter was designed by sculptor Hermon Atkins MacNeil and minted from 1916 to 1930. The Standing Liberty design features the goddess of Liberty standing on one side and an eagle in flight on the other. There are a few design variations of the Standing Liberty Quarter. MacNeil’s militaristic design depicts Lady Liberty holding an olive branch and a shield on guard against attacks. The Mint required modifications to the initial design, and MacNeil’s revised version included dolphins to represent the oceans. In late 1916, Mint officials made major changes to the design without consulting MacNeil. After receiving the new issue in January 1917 the sculptor complained about the changes. The Mint obtained special legislation to allow MacNeil to redesign the coin as he desired. One change made by the sculptor was the addition of a chain mail vest that covered Liberty’s formerly bare breast. In circulation, the coin’s date wore away quickly so the mint modified the design with a recessed date in 1925.

These Standing Liberty Quarter coins are sold as cull/circulated coins. We do not cherry pick, look for key dates, or pull anything out unless it looks completely slick (no visible image). The condition and wear on these coins are completely random and can vary from coin to coin. It is possible the date marks may have partially or completely worn off due to the age of each specimen.
