All 2025 5 oz Colorized Australian Silver Lunar Snake Coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are housed in a clear acrylic capsule. The reverse design has been selectively colorized to draw attention to the detailed image of the coiled snake.

Obverse

On the obverse, the coin features the new portrait of King Charles III. This design, created by Dan Thorne and introduced for Australian coins in 2024, shows the King in a left-facing profile without a crown.

Reverse

The reverse shows a snake coiled and alert, set in a natural scene with lush plants and calm water behind it. The colorized design uses soft blues, greens, and whites to give the snake a lifelike appearance and highlight the detailed artwork.

History

The 2025 release celebrates the Year of the Wood Snake, one of 60 possible combinations in the Chinese zodiac system. The Snake, known for its deep thinking and self-awareness, pairs with the Wood element to highlight creativity, adaptability, and growth. This pairing reflects a zodiac year focused on progress and insight.
