This effigy, designed by Martin Jennings in 2022, is the first ever to feature King Charles III on British coins. Reverse

On the reverse of the 2025 1 oz Gold The Queen’s Panther Coin is the Seymour Panther, depicted in left-profile relief. The powerful image shows the panther supporting a shield with the combined arms of Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour.

History

The marriage of King Henry VIII and Jane Seymour had a lasting influence on England. Jane gave Henry his only legitimate male heir, Edward VI, cementing the Tudor dynastys future. Her death, however, also resulted in the loss of a moderate voice in Henry’s court, which contributed to the more radical religious reforms during the reign of Edward VI.
