This original stamp included a profile of Queen Victoria, based on a sketch by Henry Corbould derived from a medal by William Wyon. History

Like the Penny Black, the Two Penny Blue was printed by Perkins, Bacon & Petch using the line-engraved printing method. This process involved engraving the design on a steel die, which was then transferred to printing plates.
