The obverse of 2023 1 oz Proof Silver Una and the Lion Coins depicts King Charles III in a portrait. This is the first time Charles has graced the obverse in this series. The all-new portrait is credited to Glyn Davies, whose initials are included in the design.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2023 1 oz Proof St. Helena Silver Coins Una and the lion are depicted. This design contains stylish flourishes inspired by the Art Nouveau movement. Like the obverse, it is credited to Glyn Davies. There are inscriptions as well that read Una and the Lion, 2023.

History

The East India Company launched its Una and the Lion collection in 2020. The series is produced in partnership with St. Helena, a British overseas territory in the South Atlantic. This brilliant collection is based on the 1590 Edmund Spenser poem The Faerie Queene. It also draws inspiration from William Wyons beloved 1839 Una and the Lion coin engraving.
