Obverse
In the obverse design, the 2023 Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coin comes with an image of the Great Pipe Organ. This design features the beauty of the Musikverein with the pipe organ included. The Musikverein is the concert hall where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs.
Reverse
For the reverse field, 2023 1 oz Gold Philharmonics include a cluster of musical instruments. The design on this side includes a large cello in the center that is flanked on each side by two violins. The background field includes a bassoon, a harp, and a horn.
History
Austrian Gold Philharmonic Coins have increased in variety three times in the programs history. The 1989 debut introduced investors to 1 oz and 1/4 oz gold weights. The 1991 date introduced a 1/10 oz gold coin, the 1994 date a 1/2 oz gold coin, and the 2014 date a 1/25 oz gold coin. The latter was intended as a one-year issue to mark the 25th anniversary of the series, but continued annually given its popularity.
