Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of 2023 British Gold Britannia Coins. Her Majesty is shown here in the fifth-generation portrait created in 2015 by Jody Clark. This design is the last of Her Majestys reign and features the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
Reverse
Britannia is found in the reverse design of the 2023 Gold Britannia Coins. This depiction of the female allegory was created in 1987 by Philip Nathan and shows her figure looking to the right. The background field features motion texture lines. There is a latent security element in the lower left, tincture lines on the shield in the lower right, and micro-text engravings around Britannia.
History
In 2023, the Royal Mint issues its first batch of British Gold Britannias with Her Majestys portrait. This is the final release of coins with Elizabeth IIs effigy before the Royal Mint introduces new coins with a portrait of King Charles III.
