This high grade indicates a near-perfect specimen with its full, original mint luster intact and no more than two minor imperfections. Significantly, these coins are part of the first 500 struck featuring King Charles III.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2023 1/2 oz British Britannia Coin features King Charles III, designed by Martin Jennings. His Majesty is shown in left-profile relief, a notable departure from the depictions of his mother. This is the inaugural year that Queen Elizabeth II does not appear on the coin. Inscriptions read D.G.REX.F.D, 50 POUNDS, MJ, and CHARLES III.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2023 British Gold Britannia Coin depicts Britannia, a design by Philip Nathan. Britannia is portrayed in a Corinthian helmet, wielding a trident in one hand and holding the Union Jack shield in the other. Inscriptions include BRITANNIA, 2023, 1/2 OZ, and 999.9 FINE GOLD.
