History
In 1986, the United States Mint introduced the American Gold Eagle Series, initially featuring 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold BU coins. The 1 oz proof coin was also introduced that same year, with the remaining proof coins following in 1987 (1/2 oz) and 1988 (1/4 oz and 1/10 oz). In 2022, witness the debut of the Proof American Gold Eagle with the new reverse design by Jennie Norris, introduced in 2021 during the series’ 35th-anniversary celebration.
