Augustus Saint Gaudens is the designer behind the image featured on the obverse face of the 2022 American Gold Eagle Coin. He curated the visual in 1907 for the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin. The image depicts Lady Liberty in a full-length gown walking towards the viewer with a flaming torch and a symbolic olive branch.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2022 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coin received an updated look from the regular bald American family designed by Miley Busiek. It features a single bald eagle in a left-facing portrait by Jennie Norris. She created the image in 2021.
History
American Gold Eagles have been produced annually since 1986 and are the official gold bullion coin of the United States. The coin program releases four BU coins annually ranging from 1/10 oz to 1 oz. Proof and burnished coins are also available in the series as they’re released annually.
