This Brilliant Uncirculated Pictured Rocks (Michigan) 5 oz Silver America The Beautiful .999 Fine Bullion Coin is the first of 2018 and the 41st overall in the America the Beautiful Coins Program. The reverse design of this silver bullion coin depicts Chapel Rock and the white pine tree that grows atop. Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Inscriptions are “PICTURED ROCKS,” “MICHIGAN,” “2018,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

Established in 1966 as our first national lakeshore, Michigan’s Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a narrow strip of a park that hugs the Lake Superior coast for more than 40 miles. The shoreline consists of 200-foot-high colorful sandstone cliffs, numerous beaches, and 300-foot-tall sand dunes. The shoreline is bordered by boreal and eastern hardwood forests with numerous waterfalls, streams, and lakes. There is abundant wildlife, including black bears, deer, and porcupine, with bald eagles and peregrine falcons dotting the skies.

Unlike any other place on Lake Superior, Pictured Rocks offers the opportunity to explore miles of pristine beaches, hike nearly 100 miles of trails, view towering sandstone cliffs, and experience the serenity of the northern hardwood forest.

The 5 oz silver America The Beautiful Coins (ATB’s) all resemble a Washington quarter but are significantly larger (76.20 millimeter diameter) and contain 99.9% silver at a weight of 155.5 grams. Each coin depicts a United States National Park on the reverse and John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of George Washington on the obverse. Inscriptions on the obverse are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR. The edges of these 5 oz silver bullion coins are smooth and contain the incused inscription: .999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE. The coin will be sent to you in a protective Air-Tite Capsule.
