Design

History

Augustus Saint-Gaudens, a distinguished coin designer, was personally selected by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1905 to rejuvenate American gold coin designs. The initial appearance of his design was on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933.
