This Brilliant Uncirculated Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin is the fourth of 2015 and the 29th overall in the America the Beautiful Coins Program. The reverse design on this silver bullion coin features a great blue heron in the foreground and a great egret in the background. Inscriptions are “BOMBAY HOOK,” “DELAWARE,” “2015” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is host to hundreds of thousands of migrating ducks, geese, shorebirds and neo-tropical songbirds in their spring and fall migrations. Tired and hungry between Canada and the Gulf of Mexico, they seek shelter at Bombay Hook and feast on marsh grasses, fish and other important foods before continuing their flight. Bombay Hook’s 16,000 acres include freshwater pools, swamps, upland forests, agricultural fields and one of the largest unaltered tidal salt marshes in the Mid-Atlantic region. It was established as a national site in 1937.

The 5 oz silver America The Beautiful Coins (ATB’s) all resemble a Washington quarter but are significantly larger (76.20 millimeter diameter) and contain 99.9% silver at a weight of 155.5 grams. Each coin depicts a United States National Park on the reverse and John Flanagan’s 1932 portrait of George Washington on the obverse. Inscriptions on the obverse are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR. The edges of these 5 oz silver bullion coins are smooth and contain the incused inscription: .999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE. The coin will be sent to you in a protective Capsule.
