Amidst the economic challenges of the Great Recession in 2008, the US Mint halted numismatic issues in 2009, channeling all resources towards BU Eagles due to depleted gold and silver blanks. The return of the program in 2010 witnessed demand nearly doubling from the last issue in 2008. The 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle had the highest mintage in 2010, followed by these 1/10 oz Proof gold Eagles, the 1/2 oz Proof Gold Eagle, and the 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle.
