Rays of sunshine frame her figure from behind as she walks away from Washington DC with the US Capitol Building visible at her feet in the background. There is a ring of 50 stars around her figure and inscriptions of Liberty above her head and 2010 within the rays of sunshine.

Reverse

The reverse of 2010 1 oz American Gold Eagle Coins features a family of American bald eagles. In use on the series since its 1986 debut, the depiction was created for the introduction of the series by Miley Busiek. The image features a male eagle flying over the family nest as a female shelters a young hatchling under her wing.
