Introduced in 1981, the Mexican Gold Libertad is the oldest coin in the Mexican Libertad Series. The Gold Libertad is offered in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz weights, with the 1 oz gold coin being one of the first options released in 1981. Each 2009 1 oz Mexican Gold Libertad Coin is shipped in a protective plastic flip. The mintage of 6,200 coins may seem low, but it was actually the highest total for the series between 2003 and 2022.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2009 Mexican Gold Libertad Coin features the modern coat of arms of Mexico. The central design shows an eagle perched on a cactus fighting a snake, based on imagery from the Aztec Codex Mendoza. Surrounding this central figure are 10 additional designs of Mexicos historic coats of arms, with a version of the eagle and snake shown at the top of the design.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2009 1 oz Gold Libertad Coin, youll find the image of Winged Victory. This symbol of Mexicos independence shows Victory with a laurel wreath in one hand and broken chains in the other. She stands proudly on the Mexican Independence Victory Column, with the volcanic peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl visible in the background.
History
Production of the Gold Libertad was uneven in the early years. The 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz coins were first released in 1981, but no more were minted until 1991, when the series resumed with the addition of the 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz coins. These five weights were produced through 1994, paused, and then restarted in 2002. Since then, the series has been issued regularly each year.

How Does Free Shipping Work?
When the subtotal of your purchase, including applicable discounts, is $199 or more, you receive free shipping for your entire order. In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. All products are discreetly packaged and shipped with full insurance included.
When will my order ship?
Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
Can I choose the method of shipping?
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
Will I need to sign for my package?
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
What about International Orders?
BGASC is only able to ship to addresses in any of the 50 US states. This includes P.O. boxes and APO addresses.
