In 1999, the US Mint started expanding its annual Proof Sets by including more coins, beginning with the introduction of the Statehood Quarters. These additions offered collectors a wider range of designs and themes. The 2001 US Mint Proof Set was the third in this expanded series and is available now for purchase at BGASC.

The coins in this proof set were produced using special dies to create a frosted look on the designs and polished, mirror-like surfaces in the background. Though still in their original plastic holders from the mint, some of these cases may show signs of handling. Additionally, a few sets might not include the outer shipper or Certificate of Authenticity, but the coins themselves are still in good shape.

Designs

This set includes the five regular denominations: Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Dollar. Instead of a single quarter, it features five 2001 Statehood Quarters. Each one honors a different US state, with George Washingtons portrait on the obverse and state-themed artwork on the reverse. The states appear in the order they entered the Union or ratified the Constitution.
