For the design of The Thinker Silver Stackable, Rodins Thinker is the central focus. The background includes several figures from The Gates of Hell, featuring both humans and skeletons. The bottom edge of the stackable has inscriptions indicating the metal content, purity, and weight. The obverse and reverse share the same design, with the obverse being convex and the reverse concave.

History

The Thinker’s pose is believed to have been inspired by Michelangelo’s famous sculpture The Dying Slave, with the figure’s hand supporting the weight of his head. However, Rodin exaggerated the tension and musculature to convey a sense of intense mental effort.
