History
When the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf made its debut in 1979, it marked a significant moment in the world of gold bullion coins. At the time, the South African Krugerrand was the only other option, but it wasn’t easily accessible to collectors and investors. Following the initial success, the Royal Canadian Mint introduced a 1/4 oz and a 1/10 oz in 1982. Shortly after, the introduction of a 1/2 oz coin in 1986 and a 1/20 oz version in 1993. A 1/15 oz version was released for one year in 1994. In 2014, a 1 gram version was introduced.
