Obverse
On the obverse, the 1893 Liberty Gold Eagle Coin features the well-known image of Lady Liberty, designed by Christian Gobrecht. Liberty is shown in left-profile with a coronet crown and surrounded by 13 stars, representing the original colonies, with the year “1893” beneath her.

As part of the Type II design, the national motto In God We Trust is displayed on a banner above the eagle.
