The coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian Empire is found in the reverse design of the 1892 20 Francs/8 Florin Austrian Gold Coins. This design reflects the rule of the Hapsburgs and comes with a double-headed eagle with a shield supported in front of it.
History
This modern restrike bears a critical date from the history of Austro-Hungarian coinage. In 1892, the empire adopted the gold standard for its coinage. As a multinational empire, the Franc used in Austria cocirculated alongside the Florin that was used in parts of Austria and in Hungary.
