The Morgan Silver Dollar was introduced in 1878 with a design from George T. Morgan. Morgan served as an engraver at the United States Mint for a remarkable 48 years, from 1876 until his retirement in 1925. During his time at the Mint, Morgan designed various coins and medals, but it is his work on the Morgan Dollar that secured his lasting legacy. Obverse

A left-profile relief of Lady Liberty graces the obverse of the 1887 Morgan Silver Dollar. The intricate bust showcases Liberty’s head adorned with the coronet and laurel wreath crowns, accompanied by a circumference embellished with a ring of 13 stars.

Reverse

An image of the heraldic eagle adorns the reverse side of the 1887 Morgan Dollar, a design attributed to George T. Morgan. This portrayal exhibits a forward-facing bald eagle, clutching both the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. Unlike the customary depiction, the design does not incorporate the US national shield.

History

The current Philadelphia Mint facility is an impressive neoclassical structure built between 1901 and 1907. The mint’s building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is recognized for its architectural beauty.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most BGASC orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.

Can I choose the method of shipping?

All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.

Will I need to sign for my package?

For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
