Design

The 1 oz Antique Finish Britannia Silver Statue features Britannia in a striking pose. Shes dressed in a flowing gown and wears a Corinthian-style helmet. With her right hand, she holds a large trident, while her left hand supports an olive branch and a shield decorated with the Union Jack.

History

Britannias appearance evolved over time, especially in the 17th and 18th centuries. After the monarchy was restored in 1660, she became a common figure on British currency, such as the copper farthings and halfpennies introduced by Charles II in 1672. Artists updated her look with new detailslike a trident to represent sea power and a lion to reflect courage.
