Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful Indiana Silver Coin, you’ll see a riverside scene with Miami people traveling in canoes. This artwork reflects the Miami word Waapaahsiiki, which refers to the banks of the Wabash River near present-day Vincennes, Indiana.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Colorized NATB Indiana Silver Coin displays the shared design used across this coin series. At the center is the head of a bald eagle. The eagle is placed inside an eight-pointed star, with arrowheads set between each point, creating a border around the design.
History
The Wabash River, called “Waapaahiki Siipiiwi” by the Miami, served many roles in their lives. It connected different villages, supported farming and fishing, and was the focus of many cultural stories and seasonal events. Its importance was not just practical but deeply tied to their identity.
