Obverse

The obverse of the 1901-S $10 Liberty Gold Eagle displays a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty. This design was introduced by Christian Gobrecht and is encircled by 13 stars representing the original colonies. The date of issue is inscribed beneath the image.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1901-S Liberty Gold Eagle is the heraldic eagle, designed by Gobrecht. The bald eagle appears with its wings spread wide, holding arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The Type II version of this coin includes the national motto above the eagle.

History
