Product Description
Christian Gobrecht, the third Chief Engraver of the US Mint, introduced the Liberty Head Eagle design in 1838. The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle became a cornerstone in American coinage, with its design appearing on $10, $5, and $2.50 gold denominations. The $10 coin remained in production until 1907, making it the longest-running design in the Eagle series. Today, 1901 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins in certified condition are available at BGASC.

Obverse
The obverse of the 1901 Liberty Gold Eagle features Christian Gobrechts design of Lady Liberty from 1838. She appears in left-profile relief wearing a coronet with Liberty inscribed on it, encircled by 13 stars, and the coins year of issue.
Reverse
On the reverse of 1901 $10 Liberty Eagle Coins, youll find Gobrechts heraldic eagle design. The eagle holds the US national shield, clutching arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. These Type II coins also feature the national motto, In God We Trust, on a banner above the eagle.
History
In 1901, the New Orleans Mint restarted production of $10 Liberty Gold Eagles after a break in 1900. Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco Mints all produced the coins that year. Philadelphia struck 1,718,740 coins, New Orleans 72,041, and San Francisco led with 2,812,750 coins.
