Obverse
On the obverse of the 1899 Liberty Gold Eagle, you’ll find a portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed by Gobrecht in 1838, this image depicts Liberty in left-profile with a coronet crown. The portrait is surrounded by a ring of 13 stars and the year of minting at the bottom.
Reverse
The reverse of the 1899 $10 Liberty Eagle Coins features another design by Gobrecht, known as the heraldic eagle. This design portrays the bald eagle facing forward, clutching a national shield, arrows of war, and an olive branch.
