Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 British Gold Britannia Coin, you will see King Charles III. His effigy, designed by Martin Jennings, appears in left-profile relief without a crown. This is one of the first British coins to feature Charles III after the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
Reverse
The reverse design on the 2025 1/10 oz Gold Britannia Coin is Philip Nathans famous Britannia. The design captures her standing tall in front-facing relief, holding a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, which rests on a Union Jack shield. Added security features on this side include a latent image, micro-engraved text, tincture lines on the Union Jack, and wavy lines in the background.
History
The reverse design of the Britannia Coin was crafted by Philip Nathan in 1987 and selected through a competition held by The Royal Mint. Since its debut, the coin featured Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse until her death in 2022. King Charles III made his first appearance on these coins starting in mid-2023.
