Reverse
On the reverse of 2025 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf Coins, the iconic sugar maple leaf is prominently displayed, a design that has remained consistent since the series’ inception in 1979. The design was crafted by Walter Ott and can be found on all versions of the Canadian Maple Leaf coins, including gold, silver, platinum, and palladium.
History
The sugar maple leaf has a deep-rooted history in Canada, symbolizing the countrys identity for centuries. It first appeared on the coat of arms of the Province of Canada in 1868, continuing to be a prominent symbol in the national arms of Canada after Confederation. By 1965, the maple leaf had earned its place on Canadas national flag, further solidifying its status as a national emblem.
