Obverse

On the obverse, the 2024 Reverse Proof Mexican Silver Libertad displays the Mexican coat of arms, featuring a golden eagle with a serpent on a prickly pear cactus branch. This design is surrounded by 10 historical versions of the national emblem.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2024 5 oz Reverse Proof Silver Libertad Coin shows the Winged Victory statue, inspired by the goddess Nike. The figure holds a laurel wreath in her right hand and broken chains in her left.

History

The 20th century brought significant changes to the Mexican Mint. In 1925, it was incorporated into the Bank of Mexico, the country’s central bank. This move centralized monetary policy and coin production under one institution. Throughout the century, the mint expanded its operations beyond just producing circulating coinage. It began minting commemorative coins, medals, and bullion products, including the famous Gold Centenario and Silver Libertad series.
