On the reverse of the 2024 Texas Mint Silver Steer Wrestling Rounds, a cowboy is depicted wrestling a bull. The term “take the bull by the horns” comes from this very act of cattle wrestling, as illustrated in this design.
History
The closure of the open range in the late 19th century, due to the advent of barbed wire and increased settlement, forced significant changes in Texas ranching.
