Obverse

The obverse of the 2024 Morgan Dollar features a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty, created by George T. Morgan in 1878. Lady Liberty is shown wearing a coronet crown, a laurel wreath, and a Phrygian cap.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2024 Morgan Silver Dollar displays the heraldic eagle of the United States, also designed by George T. Morgan. This image shows the bald eagle with wings spread wide, clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.

History

The Morgan Silver Dollar holds a special place in American numismatic history. First struck in 1878, these coins were minted annually until 1904. Following a long pause, silver dollar production resumed in 1921, continuing until the introduction of the Peace Dollar in December of that year.
