History
The HMS Bounty began its voyage on December 23, 1787, from Spithead, England. Under Lieutenant William Bligh’s command, the ship had a crew of 46 men, including Fletcher Christian as Master’s Mate. The Bounty’s departure was actually delayed by several weeks. It was originally scheduled to leave in November, but bad weather and the need for additional preparations pushed the departure to late December.
