History

The Proof Gold Libertad has a storied history at the Mexican Mint. Initially, the coins were issued only twice in the first 19 years.In 2004, the Mexican Mint began releasing the Proof Gold Libertad annually. The coins were brought back in 1 oz and 1/2 oz gold, and three more sizes were added: 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz gold. These five sizes have been part of the annual collection ever since. In 2018, the mint also started producing reverse proof coins in 1 oz and 1/2 oz gold.
