Reverse

The reverse design of the 2007 1 oz Australian Lunar Pig Coin depicts a pig standing amid foliage, gazing at the Chinese symbol for “pig” along with weight, purity, and year markers. Inscriptions read 1 OZ 999 SILVER and 2007.

History

The celebrated Lunar Series from the Perth Mint kicked off in 1996 with the Year of the Rat design. Silver versions launched a few years later in 1999. Lunar Series II debuted in 2008 when the Rat year returned, followed by Series III starting in 2020. For 2007’s Year of the Pig release, sizes ranged from a 1/2 oz up to an impressive 10 kilo coin.
