History

1928 was the first of five years in the final six issues of the Double Eagle to see just one branch mint strike the coins. 1931 was the only year after 1928 to see two mints strike the coins, with 1928, 1929, 1932, and 1933 featuring only coins from the Philadelphia Mint.
