History

Chinese Gold Panda coins debuted just three years after the 1979 introduction of the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. The coin became the third option available to investors behind the Maple Leaf and the Gold Krugerrand, the latter of which was introduced in 1967. The Gold Panda debuted before the likes of the American Eagle, Australian Nugget/Kangaroo, British Britannia, and the Austrian Philharmonic in the 1980s.
