History

James Bond had his origins in the imagination of Ian Fleming, a real-life spy who went on from his work in the British Naval Intelligence Office during the Second World War to become one of the most famous novelists in the world. That fame was owed to the popularity of Bond, an indefatigable gentleman spy whose adventures blended realistic grit with gleefully over-the-top fantasy. The iconic action hero was popular in novel form, but truly ascended to the stratosphere of pop culture on the big screen, where he would be portrayed by six actors across the span of 25 films.
