History
Starting in 2018, the US Mint resumed regular issuance of S-Proof American Silver Eagles. These coins have gained increased collectible appeal due to lower production volumes at the San Francisco Mint compared to the West Point Mint in most years. The 2021-S Proof Type 2 continues this tradition, following the 2020-S Proof Silver Eagle, as no 2021-S Proof Type 1 coin was issued.
