The obverse of the American Silver Eagle showcases the iconic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. Originating from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, this design captures the essence of liberty with a draped US flag and a figure striding towards a new day. Reverse

Flipping the coin, you’ll find the reverse adorned with the heraldic eagle design by John Mercanti, the then-US Mint Chief Engraver. History

Burnished American Silver Eagles were introduced in 2006 by the US Mint. The coins were released annually for three years before the US Mint put a pause on most numismatic issues in 2009 to direct available silver blanks to the production of BU Silver Eagles. While the Proof Silver Eagle was paused only in 2009, the Burnished Silver Eagle was paused in 2009 and 2010.
