Each 2004 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle from BGASC comes individually packaged in protective flips. The 2004 release of American Gold Eagles was largely steady across the board year-over-year. The 1/4 oz coin declined by just over 2,000 coins in its mintage, while the other three weights saw modest upticks in demand.

Obverse

Lady Liberty graces the obverse of the 2004 American Gold Eagle, depicted in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand, an olive branch in her left, and the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet.

Reverse

The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek in 1986, features a family of American bald eagles with a male eagle soaring over the nest as a female eagle guards hatchlings within.

Issued annually by the United States Mint, Gold Eagle BU coins are subject to varying mintages based on market demand. The 2004 release saw a mintage of 72,014, with the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle experiencing a decline from the previous edition.
