Product Description

Available as low as $117.99 per coin over spot!

Introducing the 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin, a timeless investment option available at BGASC. Back in the 1980s, the United States Mint rekindled gold coining, giving birth to the American Gold Eagle series. This coin, struck since 1986, is now part of our diverse collection.

Highlights:

  • Comes in a protective plastic flip!
  • Struck since 1986!
  • Available from various years!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of pure gold.
  • $25 (USD) face value, fully backed by the US government.
  • Obverse features Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse showcases a family of bald eagles or a single bald eagle.
  • Year of issue is not guaranteed.

Your purchase includes a 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin housed in a plastic flip. Please note that the year of issue is random and cannot be guaranteed. Purchasing multiple coins may result in receiving pieces from matching years.

Obverse

On the obverse, marvel at Lady Liberty’s full-length portrayal, designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Liberty walks towards you with a torch and olive branch in hand, set against a backdrop of stars, the U.S. Capitol Building, and sun rays.

Reverse

Flip the coin to find one of two reverse designs featuring the iconic American bald eagle. Until mid-2021, Miley Busiek’s family of eagles adorned the coin, and from mid-2021 onwards, Jennie Norris’ left-profile bald eagle design takes center stage.

History

The 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin is often the scarcest in the series. The 1991 1/2 oz coin holds the record for the lowest mintage, with just 24,100 coins sold. Conversely, the debut year in 1986 recorded the highest mintage for this coin, with 599,566 coins sold.
